About Me

Hi! I’m A.C. Sanders Thanks for stopping by.

I was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas and attended Texas Tech majoring in general studies, emphasis in philosophy and history. Drafted into the army in 1964, I attended officer candidate school becoming a Field Artillery Officer. After more than eight years in the military, and frustrated by the revolving door to Vietnam, I entered civilian life where I owned and operated a private security and communications company. In the late 1980’s. I studied kinesiology at University of Texas at El Paso, and have since operated a private practice structuring strength and conditioning programs for folks with special need. My writing endeavors began in 1992, and evolved into publishing articles in various periodicals on El Paso history and folklore, veterans, and veterans’ affairs. Some short stories have won awards and seen the light of publication. I have presented to the Texas Folklore Society annual gathering and published in their annual anthology. In September, 2016 my first book was published featuring a collection of writings reflecting on my Vietnam experience. It may be found and purchased on my website, www.acsandersiii.com. My present endeavor is a collection of short stories gleaned from my growing-up years working in the family funeral business. There lurks a novel idea in my brain–who knows, someday? With age and a modicum of wisdom through experience, I enjoy, and feel the need to remark on observations made of events around me: social, political, and personal. A blog affords me the opportunity to share. Enjoy!
